Mickey Christmas Ornament

I can’t believe Christmas is less than 12 days! Time flies so fast…

Who put up their Christmas tree? My family put them up yesterday! Now it feels more like holiday and Christmas spirit!

This year, I want to put Disney theme ornament. Whenever I go to Disney store around this season, there are so many Disney Christmas ornaments display in the store! So beautiful! I want to collect them all someday…. Since I cannot collect them all this season, I decided to make my own ornaments!

I bought one 83mm plastic ornament ball from Michaels for only $1.00 because it was 50% off sale! (Later I bought 6 pack one for 1/2 off too so total I spent about $6.00 for balls) I was thinking about using lace, but I thought it would take longer so I decided to use Caron Simply Soft in black and red. It’s medium (#4 worsted) weight yarn, but it’s thinner than usual medium yarn I use. It’s almost like light (#3 DK) yarn!

I love the way it turned out and I’m designing other characters right now. I don’t think I can make many characters by Christmas, but at least I gotta make Mickey’s partner Minnie right?

I hope everyone is enjoying preparing for Christmas!! Here’s free pattern for Mickey Christmas Ornament!

I’m back with another question. Sorry! I’m trying to gather supplies to make about 20 of these guys and Minnie. Can you tell me roughly how many yards are used per ornament? I’m thinking not a lot but want to quote my friend the right price for the supplies since they’re for her. Thanks in advance! 🙂

Hi Sebrina! No need to apologize 😉
Are you talking about 20 all together or 20 each?? I actually don’t have the yardage, but I can make one real quick this week and let you know! I do remember for sure is that I had a lot Caron Simply Soft left over because it doesn’t require that much of yarn! I’m guessing 1 skein each of black and red would allow you to make 10 of Mickey for sure!! Probably 20 or more!

Hi! Thanks for the information. I need 20 total between the two of them and maybe a couple Donald. I’ll start with 2 of each color for Mickey and Minnie then. Thank you again for getting back to me! Have a great weekend 🙂

Hi Sebrina. So I made one real quick and it came out to be: for red – about 11yd and for black about the same as red! So that means you can make about 27 of Mickey (maybe 28 depending on how long your yarn ends gonna be) 1 black should be enough for both Mickey and Minnie, and you might be ok with 1 red. I hope this helps!
