Cocoon Shrug

Recently, I made my very first shrug! I made with Isaac Mizrahi Craft merino wool blend yarn. It was on sale at Michaels for $2.49 each! Regular price was $6.99 so I had to get it right? This yarn is so soft and warm, so I thought it would be perfect for this kind of garment. I bought 7 balls of Graphite color and used 5 balls for this shrug.

I found out about this shrug on Pinterest, and I fell in love with it ♡ The pattern itself is very simple. All you have to make is big granny square! I never made granny square before, so it was 2 birds with 1 stone for me to learn new things. The pin (on Pinterest) directed to mariavalles‘s website and I followed her steps. She made her granny square 105cm(41″) wide/length, but I made mine about 76cm (30″)with 4.5mm hook. For collar and sleeves, I did 1 extra than hers because the yarn I used was thinner than hers. So for collar, I did 5 rows of dc and 1 row of sc. For sleeves, I did 4 rows of front post dc and dc, and 1 row of sc.

Actually I was making this shrug for my close friend’s birthday. She’s about same size as me, and I didn’t want to make it too big. I think it turned out pretty decent size! I hope she’ll like it!
