Alchemy Cardigan CAL by Make and Do Crew – week 3

Wow I’m kind of surprised that 3 weeks already passed since I started this Alchemy Cardigan CAL! It feels like it went by really fast! Every week when the pattern got updated, I got super excited. Then when I finished with that week’s pattern, I couldn’t wait for next week’s pattern. I’m really enjoying it so far, and it’s kind of sad that next week is the last week for this CAL, but at the same time, I’m really anxious to see all the pieces I made become 1 piece! I’m also excited to see other’s cardigan, where I can see it on Lovecrochet Facebook group!

This week, we made sleeves with cuffs. Cuffs were made with same stitch pattern as front and back panels, but the sleeves were little bit different. It’s mesh pattern, but it still brings similar look to the other stitch pattern. Because it’s different stitch pattern, there’s new gauge for it. I did make gauge swatch, but my gauge turned out to be little bit off than Jess’s gauge. I had slightly more number of stitches and rows, so I’m little bit worried about the end finish. However, when I saw the picture of Jess’s finished cardigan, her sleeves looked wider. My arms are not that wide so I know it’s going to fit, but I just don’t know how wide it’s going to be until I put everything together.

Also the length of the sleeves. This was another concern I had while making it. The photo looked sleeves were shorter than I normally wear. Plus my gauge is off, so my guess is sleeves are going to shorter than I prefer for sure. I rather have the length I prefer so I added 3 extra rows to the original pattern. After I put everything together and if I still don’t like the length, I’m going to add more rows! (and hopefully I have enough yarn for that…)

Overall so far, I love it! I love it! I love it! It’s gonna be too hot to wear this by the time it finishes (actually who knows about Chicago weather…it might turn into winter again) but I have new cardigan to wear in the fall! Yay!

Next and last week will be putting everything together, including pockets and collar ribbings! Seaming together is not my forte but I know I can do it!
